What is Low Migration. Printing Ink. EuPIA Definition. A “low migration ink” designed for use on food packaging is formulated using selected components ensuring that migration from the resulting printing ink film is intrinsically within official migration limits for intended application.

Principles that we follow with conviction
The European Printing Ink Association EuPIA has laid down principles relating to the production of food packaging which we have willingly committed ourselves to.

The most important of these include:

We comply with the latest relevant legislation and fulfill the resulting statutory requirements in order to guarantee the highest level of consumer protection.
Our products must be suitable for the agreed purpose.
Risk and exposure assessment are carried out in accordance with internationally recognized scientific principles.
We follow and implement the principles of “Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP)”, including audits.

Tempo Conventional inks

The “Tempo” family of printing inks has been developed for conventional offset applications. It impresses with outstanding technical printing performance, durability and user-friendliness for short printing runs, face and reverse printing and in further processing. The product spectrum includes mineral-oil-free ink ranges and oil and water-based varnishes for a large selection of applications in packaging and commercial printing including Low Migration inks.

Sicura UV Inks

All inks and varnishes for UV applications are combined under the name

“Sicura”. These printing inks contain no volatile organic compounds (VOC). They are highly reactive, robust and durable and can be used on a number of substrates such as paper, cardboard, aluminum and plastics. For food and cosmetics applications, Siegwerk offers specially developed ink and varnish systems which are distinguished by extremely low migration tendencies and fulfill all legal requirements and regulations in every respect.
